The Oakland Private Industry Council, Inc... putting people to work!

Dedicated to helping the Oakland community maintain no-fee career centers and workforce development programs, the Oakland PIC has been in existence since 1978.  Our goal is to aid the economy by helping job seekers prepare for work, then providing employers with highly trained employees.

In partnership with the Oakland Workforce Investment Board, EASTBAY Works and others, the Oakland PIC manages the Oakland Career Center at 1212 Broadway.  PIC also oversees and cooperates in the management of six other centers in Oakland: Oakland East at the offices of the State Employment Development Department; The Unity Council; The English Center at Mills College campus; Lao Family Community Development Center; a one stop center at the Alameca County Social Services Agency on San Pablo Avenue; and Mills College Career Center.

The Oakland PIC also contracts, on behalf or the Workforce Investment Board, with five nonprofit organizations to provide services to youth 14-21 years of age.  Please check our youth services section to learn more about programs for youth.
